through the lens

today, i, jane, got to photograph a close friend to celebrate her senior year of high school. it was fun to see her through my lens and let her work the camera; different from our usual time spent in school or on the lacrosse field. here are some fun shots I got of her.

photos were taken at lake harriet and the lake harriet rose gardens in mpls.

Processed with VSCO with a6 preset

bye bye summer job

i, laura, absolutely adored my summer job. i spent everyday taking pictures of clothes for an online website and got to learn the ins and outs of an online business. it was everything i could have asked for and more. my last day was last friday and i’ll admit it was pretty hard to say goodbye. i have nothing but respect for the great company i got to work for and an even greater appreciation for my coworkers that made each day full of laughter and fun. i cannot wait to join the full-time working word one day and i hope to do something that can combine my love for business and fashion.

so, fawbush’s thank you for having me this summer. it was a pleasure.

summer challenge + links

sadly, we have to start accepting that summer is coming to end. however, there are still a few weeks left to finish completing the summer bucket list. we want to make the most of these last few weeks of sun and vacation, so we are challenging ourselves and friends to the following:

  • try a new restaurant (mpls area? maybe try here)
  • sleep in
  • call an old friend and catch up (here‘s why)
  • exercise outside
  • make one more spontaneous purchase (found this during a quick target run)
  • take pictures of something or someone you enjoy
  • switch out a staple make up product for something new (new lipstick obsession here)
  • bike to work
  • + anything else on your summer to do list !

the odyssey

jane and i have both been writing for a online newspaper called “the odyssey” and it’s been great! every week we share a 500+ word article on whatever topic we feel like! it has been fun to tailor to a different platform and write about more personal experiences.

please check our writing out!

laura’s profile can be found here along with her last two articles “7 children’s books you should read, even if you are an adult” and “life on pine ridge native american reservation

jane’s profile can be found here along with her last two articles “an open letter to my younger self” and “life’s a marathon, not a sprint: what i learned from training for my first marathon

thank you! tune in next week for more writing on the odyssey! happy monday, friends.

17 years young

i, jane, am officially 17 ! 16 was definitely good to me. i accomplished lots in school, work, sports, and learned so much about myself. one of the biggest things i have been reflecting on lately is how i can live in the moment. between making big career and future decisions and taking on more responsibilities, i find myself constantly thinking about the future and what is to come and forget how important it is to live in the moment. each moment in time is unique and will never be repeated, and each moment has something to offer if you open your eyes. i want to reflect on what is happening in the “now” and learn and grow from that, instead of always thinking about “one day” or “some day.” so, here’s to 17 and finding beauty in the present moment.

happy friday.

broods at first ave

tonight, we both, coincidentally, made plans to see broods at first ave in mpls. we ran into each other at the concert but weren’t surprised that we each found our way to this amazing performance.

the aussie band was unbelievably talented and entertaining. georgia, the lead singer, was so fun to watch and dance along with.

more to come on the night, but for now, here she is doing her thing on stage.

happy tuesday, friends.

taylor’s falls

i, laura, spent a very sunny saturday hiking in taylor’s falls, located in the interstate wisconsin state park.  it was such a nice day full of beautiful trails, awesome views, and a yummy picnic lunch.
