an ode to minneapolis

from lake harriet to calhoun,

to stone arch and mill city,

nothing about this city is ordinary.

bikers bike the trails,

runners inhale and exhale,

walkers steadily proceed,

a place where lovers of life live

is a place for me.

new cafes, shops, and restaurants

are full of creative people.

when the snow melts,

and the kids come out,

the trees turn green in happiness.

mothers gasp at yet another

grass or ice cream stain

on the clothes of their children,

but it’s summer,

and those accidents are quickly forgiven.

ask anyone and they’ll say,

this place is like no where else.

a place where city and nature meet,

minneapolis is a place

no other cities beat.

sunday procrastination

the best shampoo

1. this shampoo is very simple, but still smells amazing. it does not build up in hair while moisturizing from root to tip

2. as a less expensive option, this shampoo has a really nice scent and will leave hair (especially straight hair) really soft.

3. for sure one of our all time favorite products! really a good one for summer as it gets chemicals (like chlorine) out really well.

4. sebastian light is a really nice shampoo. one of the best smelling scents that stays in hair! will leave hair super smooth to the touch, as well.

5. got this as a sample in the birch box! it’s highly concentrated so a little goes a long way.

prom, prom, prom!

with prom (and other spring formal dances) fast approaching, we have decided to share accessories, hairstyles, and dresses we love. whether you are lacking some inspiration or are totally ready for your dance, check it out!

rachel paracel, blogger behind pink peonies, has some beautiful pieces in her new jewelry collection including this classy stacked pearl necklace here, and make sure to check out the matching bangles and earings while you’re over there!

sparkle from head to toe with baubble bar’s gorgeous, eye catching hair accessories like this barrette or be bold and try a headband like this one with your up do or even just loose waves.

jcrew factory has some great purses and clutches for your big night. we especially liked this onethis one, and this one.

not enough clutter to fill up a purse? try a small wallet like this or a fun phone case, here.

complete your look with the perfect, subtle and natural, yet sweet, perfume like this chloé one or kate spade’s walk on air.

nordstrom has what feels like endless choices of shoes to choose from, but when in doubt go with a classic, simple pair like these that can easily be worn again for a future event and come in many colors.

so, what are you wearing? have an awesome night!

change is good.

everyone knows that april showers and may flowers means spring cleaning, but if your like us and don’t want to or feel the need to dust every corner of your house, try out some of the ways we like to clean and change up our routine in the spring.

switch out pictures in your picture frames with something new, happy, and something that reminds you of summer because it is oh so close.

take the big, fuzzy blanket off your bed just in time for the heat to be turned off inside and maybe replace it with a light throw like this one.

change up your run route or workout.

new music! follow us at janeandlaura and spotify to see what we are listening to or check out our post on sawyer federicks .

clear your entire phone photo stream onto a laptop or hardrive. trust us, it feels good.

no more dark eye makeup, try something light and neutral like this eye shadow pallet.

try a new lipstick shade (like this or this)- change can be fun!

trend alert: collars are all over the runway this spring, try this or this and see what all the hype is about here.

here comes the sun! pull out some fun shades like these or these for the changing weather.

lastly, here’s what we are wearing this spring, inspired by our recent travels…
