the new place on the block!

we are so very excited that we got to pop in for a trial opening at whole sum kitchen! not only is the place very bright and well decorated, but the smoothies and juices are fantastic! this is an awesome addition to our neighborhood– everyone in the mpls area, go check it out!

linden hills

today we enjoyed a quiet morning at one of minneapolis’ cutest spots: linden hills! first we grabbed coffee and pastries at rose street patisserie¬†and got some work done (we’ve also concluded that senior slides are not a real thing). then we set off to walk through some of the small boutiques around the area, including honeyshine and the best children’s book store, wild rumpus.

here’s some pictures from our rainy fall morning:

rose street is such a serene spot

wild rumpus has chickens, cats, and birds just hanging out in random parts of the store. we used to come here all the time when we were little, it is truly a great place.

jane is officially a superhuman

today, our very own jane finished her first ever marathon!!! running 26.2 miles is something that takes both an incredible amount of dedication and strength (not that i, laura, would know hahah). i am so very proud of jane for having goals and not letting the busyness of life and sports, and a foot injury, get in the way. i felt truly inspired seeing her smiling at mile 8! i feel so blessed to know this awesome, creative, strong girl and to share a corner of the internet together.

broods at first ave

tonight, we both, coincidentally, made plans to see broods at first ave in mpls. we ran into each other at the concert but weren’t surprised that we each found our way to this amazing performance.

the aussie band was unbelievably talented and entertaining. georgia, the lead singer, was so fun to watch and dance along with.

more to come on the night, but for now, here she is doing her thing on stage.

happy tuesday, friends.

lake lovin’

i, laura, spent last night enjoying lake minnetonka after a busy day at work. ¬†there’s something about the water that just totally calms me, it’s magical. i am loving summer and never want it to leave. ¬†so thankful for fun family and friends that make nights like last night so fun and so special.

happy weekend, pals- hope you find some time to get out and enjoy the weather!

an ode to minneapolis

from lake harriet to calhoun,

to stone arch and mill city,

nothing about this city is ordinary.

bikers bike the trails,

runners inhale and exhale,

walkers steadily proceed,

a place where lovers of life live

is a place for me.

new cafes, shops, and restaurants

are full of creative people.

when the snow melts,

and the kids come out,

the trees turn green in happiness.

mothers gasp at yet another

grass or ice cream stain

on the clothes of their children,

but it’s summer,

and those accidents are quickly forgiven.

ask anyone and they’ll say,

this place is like no where else.

a place where city and nature meet,

minneapolis is a place

no other cities beat.

acai bowl recipe

today i, jane, went back to truce juice bar and tried their cocoberry acai bowl. it was delicious and fresh and inspired me to find recipes that i could make on my own, so here is what i found:

food network’s basic acai bowl

gaby’s coconut acai bowl¬†

fitness magazine’s five favorite acai bowls

to the pioneer of “the minneapolis sound”

as many (or even all) of you know, thursday minneapolis’ very own prince passed away. ¬†his death is being morned all over the world as people try to find a way to say goodbye to such an iconic musician. the death of prince really hits home with me (laura) as i feel a connection with him due to our love for minneapolis. prince made my favorite concert venue (first avenue) great and he never forgot where he came from. ¬†although i was never the biggest fan of his music, i have nothing but respect for such a talented, hardworking person who never lost touch with his roots.

minneapolis, and all those who are lucky enough to call this awesome city our home, love you, prince. rest in peace. everyone, please turn on the current (89.3) to check the end of the 26 hour prince marathon.
