concert review: mpls jingle ball

on monday afternoon, i, jane, realized that (one) i had nothing to do in the evening and (two) that some of my favorite arstists were playing at kdwb’s jingle ball later that night. i bought two tickets an hour before the show and called up a good friend to join me.

we went in with zero expectations but finished the night pleasantly surprised with the performances we heard. some stand outs were alessia cara’s song scars to your beautiful about loving your self for who you are, g-eazy’s classic crowd pleasers, and, my personal favorite, the backstreet boys !

here are some pictures from the night:

dress here.

thanks to maggie, maddie, and molly for a fun night.

concert review: lacrae

last night (wednesday) i, jane, went to see lacrae on his destination tour at first ave in minneapolis. it was such an inspiring couple of hours full of pure joy and unity after such a long day in america. between each song, he spoke powerful words about so many different topics. lacrae spoke from the heart about the race discrimination he’s seen this year, how everyone should be unashamed to be exactly who they are, have faith, nobody is perfect and there is no place where mistakes don’t happen and there is no place that doesn’t need hope; he stressed the importance of loving and uniting as one human body. lastly, he has partnered with food for the hungry, a non profit that sponsors meals for children in uganda and encouraged everyone in attendance to donate to this important cause. and above all, his music is amazing. personal favorite song: all i need is you.

thank you to maddie and zuva for letting me crash their night out!

thankful, thankful

with november coming around the corner and these beautiful fall days, i (laura) can’t help but feel thankful for this great weather and colorful season.  we also just had two days off of school that were much needed, thank god.

thankful for challenging puzzles and that we found the missing pieces
i mean look at those trees….thankful for fall in minnesota, it is sure beautiful here
thankful for fun candy stores with sweet treats (this one is called “sugar, sugar” on 38th and grand in minneapolis)
thankful for new boots and a dog that loves fall walks as much as i do
thankful for inspiring bands with good music. read the strumbella’s amazing interview with the current
thankful for the neighbor girls’ sassy attitudes and killer dance moves

happy tuesday! hang in there, everyone.

broods at first ave

tonight, we both, coincidentally, made plans to see broods at first ave in mpls. we ran into each other at the concert but weren’t surprised that we each found our way to this amazing performance.

the aussie band was unbelievably talented and entertaining. georgia, the lead singer, was so fun to watch and dance along with.

more to come on the night, but for now, here she is doing her thing on stage.

happy tuesday, friends.

børns at first ave

every time i, laura, make it to first ave, it is special. this place will always have such a large place in my heart and in the hearts of many people. last night i was lucky enough to go to the burns concert! wow, i’m still in that post concert high (even with ringing ears, a sore throat, and tired eyes). there’s something so attractive to me about spending money on experiences instead of possessions.

anyway, first ave, you gave me yet another memorable night! børns, nice to meet you, i know we will meet again!

it all started with the coolest uber driver ever! his name is charles lockhart and he is the owner of “chill records” label in minneapolis. his son, who goes by the name “set the smith” is a very talented hip hop artist- check him out!
beauts did the first opening set

then the master himself came on stage and completely killed it!
i couldn’t tell if i liked the color or black and white more so i included both haha

thank you first ave for hosting, børns for playing some unreal music, minneapolis for being the best, and gus for dancing with me!

the avalanches

happy tuesday! i, laura, heard an awesome band on the current the other day! the avalanches recently came out with a new album called wildflower and it is so awesome.  their songs are all super funky beats and even have mash ups of older songs- check it out! my favorite songs are “frankie sinatra” and “subways”

happy listening!
