perfect for all occasions, i (laura) chose to send one to jane to congratulate her on her college choice- villanova university!! jane will be studying public health and marketing in philadelphia this fall. laura is headed to marist college in new york! she will study fashion merchandizing.
as for our blog, we are happy to say that we plan to continue, even as we head out east! we are so excited for what the future holds. thank you for following along!
when friend and rep for chloe and isabel, emma mcelroy, reached out to us for a collab, we were so excited. the jewelry, especially in her collection here, is stunning, unique, and timeless. the items are reasonably priced and quite durable. some of our favorites were this choker, these earrings, and this bracelet. (along with so many more!) we were able to try them on, look through each piece in person, and have some fun pictures to prove it!
thank you emma!
jane- madewell high waisted jeans here, steve madden velvet booties here, f21 black turtle neck here, similar coat here.
laura- topshop black jeans here, urban outfitters purple sweater here, similar long urban cardigan here, nike shoes here, my blue jacket is old h&m but here’s a similar idea
this is a post we have been looking forward to share for weeks. a friend of ours, jack cordero, has recently started his own blog. we always get excited to connect with other bloggers and writers. however, we were especially excited to hear the awesome project jack has planned for his blog: the bildungsroman project.
bildungsroman is a term usually associated with novels; specifically, novels that deal with one’s formative years.
…and what’s a more formative time than one’s teenage years ?! jack has interviewed thirteen smart, creative, and interesting millennial teenagers to get their thoughts on a wide range of subjects from religion to relationships to drugs to art. the questions he asked each of them can be found here in his introductory post.
so far, jack has posted about religion here and the problems our world faces today here.
readers can expect a new post weekly.
congrats to jack, and we cannot wait to read more (and hope you do too).
we are so excited to share our latest collaboration with a local company, truce! we were lucky enough to talk to one of the co-owners, blaire, and get a tour around the place.
when was truce started? two and a half years ago.
what inspired you to open this juice store and why minneapolis? i started juicing when i lived in california and then noticed the absence of a juicing place in minneapolis when i moved here.
why uptown as your first location? i saw minneapolis as a growing city and i really liked it here. i thought that my passion for health and wellness would be appreciated there.
do you live in minneapolis? yes!
how do you stay fit? i love to walk my dog, do yoga, and sometimes pilates.
do you have plans to expand? yes! both product and location wise. we are planning on opening four more locations around the twin cities.
what’s the best part about having your own business? being my own boss!
were there obstacles that came with starting your own business? the hard parts are differently the not-so-fun parts of running a business like hiring and firing, health inspections, etc. those things seem to take up a lot of time!
what do you look for in an employee? i like my employees to be reliable and have a willingness to learn. i also look for someone who is interested in our products.
blaire showed around the shop and explained that all the juices and products are made fresh daily. they receive daily shipments of all the produce and juicers work for six hours every morning to create their delicious juice.
we tried three of their fresh pressed juices: morning greens, early greens, and spiced cashew milk and a delicious almond butter bar.
