happy thurs!

it’s almost the weekend! i, laura, plan on soaking up some sun, running around lake harriet, and catching up on some sleep.

i recently read the best book called isn’t it pretty to think so by jake miller that i would totally recommend!! it’s kind of a bildungsroman that also features great imagery and unique thoughts that cause you to question life as you know it. i could not put it down!

i’ve also been enjoying abstract: the art of design on netflix. it’s a very tastefully done documentary series where each episode features a different artist in very diverse fields of art. it is seriously inspiring, interesting, and amazing- check it out!

as for songs, i’ve been listening to the following: bound to you// jocelyn alice, love// kendrick lamar, how i want ya// hudson thames, doing good// milky chance, wicked// mansionz, and shot down// khalid.

also! i turned 18 a couple days ago. 17 was a great year for me, full of tough decisions and personal growth. 17 brought me fun concerts: broods, rock the garden, børns, trips to new york, naples, miami, and LA, college decisions, late nights of studying, experimenting with writing & photography, memories with family and friends, and a greater understanding of who i am. i am excited for the future and feel very content with the past- every day really does matter and i hope to make them all count as an 18 year old.

thanks for reading! take care & find some sunshine!

november horoscopes here (better late than never, right??).

i made a variation of this recipe for breakfast this morning. (highly recommend) instead of putting them in the oven, i put them in the microwave for about a minute and 45 seconds. i added a little salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes.

some of the most beautiful landscapes on earth here.

have a great night and eventually get back to watching the election poll results because no matter who takes the oval office, we are making history.

fall trends

fall is here! pumpkins, halloween, sweaters… it’s all here! so, to celebrate this beautiful season, we have gathered all the trends we’ve noticed.

fashion

leotards: such a love-hate relationship with these. so nice to have a permanently tucked in shirt, but if you don’t find the right one, they can be pretty uncomfortable. good one here .

chokers: 90s attire is back! chokers are the rage. maybe try a local (mpls) jeweler here to find a unique and handcrafted one.

entertainment

presidential debates: get out and vote if you can; every vote counts!

atlanta: such a unique plot line following the lives of up-and-coming rap artists and their everyday life. watch full episodes here.

food

avocados on more than just toast: recently stumbled across this on my instagram feed and will definitely have to give it a try.

pumpkin bread: of course. a fall necessity. fall goal: to make all of these.

thoughts

feminism: jane’s odyssey on feminism here.

fascinating find on cnn.com today: a 5minute read that leave your brain thinking for hours. here.

cozy up by the fire and watch the leaves change! until next time.

get organized

with school upon us, we are in the organization and planning mode. here are our picks for planners, binders, and more !

planners: love this gold one, simple yet stylish here, or a cute, good deal here

binder: russell + hazel never disappoint- here

bags and such: backpack here, laptop sleeve here

other: clipboard here, headphone here, water bottle here

good luck !

summer challenge + links

sadly, we have to start accepting that summer is coming to end. however, there are still a few weeks left to finish completing the summer bucket list. we want to make the most of these last few weeks of sun and vacation, so we are challenging ourselves and friends to the following:

  • try a new restaurant (mpls area? maybe try here)
  • sleep in
  • call an old friend and catch up (here‘s why)
  • exercise outside
  • make one more spontaneous purchase (found this during a quick target run)
  • take pictures of something or someone you enjoy
  • switch out a staple make up product for something new (new lipstick obsession here)
  • bike to work
  • + anything else on your summer to do list !

movie night!

we are so drained after a full week of sun, pools, work, family, and friends…it’s been great, but we need a break.

here’s our movie line up for tonight:

-can’t hardly wait

-clueless

-bring it on

-the sixties

-roman holiday

-how to marry a millionarie

all these throwback movies are on netflix! enjoy your night and see you monday, friends.

redo the room

we always love to change up our rooms and with college on the way, we cannot help but anticipate decorating our new space! that being said, here are some ideas that we found, mostly thanks to pinterest (don’t forget to follow us their too: jane & laura).

t0 the preferrer of pink, if it’s important for you to have the prettiest room in the house, you are going to need to have some color! try framing or hanging cool wrapping paper (like the birch and goldberry wrapping paper below).  also try to make some tassel garlands and jewerly plates (don’t worry, there are diy kits) for some finishing touches.

links: wrapping paper, jewelry plates, tassel garland

to the crazed music fan, what would look cooler than hanging or framing old indie music posters? you could even get a ton of different frames and decorate or paint them. we like posters because they are inexpensive and you can find one for almost any band.

links:  band stickers (1),  lumineers poster (2), xx stickers (3), the bon iver poster (4) (there are more on this site than just that one).

to the plant lover, if you like a simple room that makes your awesome plants pop, try marbled wall paper, calligraphy wall art kit, gold boxes, and of course, succulent planters.
