Mckenna. Age 17.

What is you go-to outfit?

Black jeans and a t-shirt. Or anything with stars because I’m really into them right now.

How does your style reflect who you are?

I just wear what makes me happy. For example, this pin [Scotland flag pin on jean jacket] is from Scotland and it reminds me of my trip there and that makes me happy.

What is one article of clothing you couldn’t live without?

Hats.

What is your favorite piece of clothing that you own?

My yellow baseball hat.

room organization

it’s been a while, sorry! we have been busy with the most wonderful season of the year (christmas, of course), but we have some great posts coming your way soon.

today, i (jane) have photographed and linked some useful tips and favorite ways to organize my space and stuff. enjoy !

Screen Shot 2016-12-04 at 3.40.24 PM.png

top left corner: i know we have mentioned our love for them before, but we will never stop loving artifact uprising. they have so many unique picture display products, but our favorites are the square prints. they are reasonably priced, easy to make, and come on sturdy card stock paper; what more could one ask for?! another necessity, i believe, is the wall book holder. it saves me from taking up space with a bed side table. similar here.

top right corner: using awkward window space to store books, clothes, and shoes. plus a minor obsession with polka dots that i am yet to grow out of. bench here.

middle left: shoes! i’m constantly trying to control my shoe collection and obsession. right now, they sit on top of and in my “book” shelf. i enjoy using them as decorative pieces that add some color to my room rather than shoving them into the back of my closet.

bottom left corner: makeup storage has been another struggle of mine. however, these acrylic jars have been working very well. they are super easy to find, but mine are from here. it

bottom right corner: not an organization tip but still a fun idea. i display a few of my favorite photos and some magazine pages that have caught my eye through the years on empty wall spaces.

happy organizing!!

jane in italy

while laura was in nyc/boston, i (jane) went to italy ! i made it to venice, florence, rome, pompeii, and naples. i loved every second of it from the food to the history to the italian culture. i took lots and lots of pictures in hopes that i will never forget this awesome adventure.

venice: by far my favorite place that i went to. it was so cool to see a city where all transportation is on water and through canals. the colors were vibrant and beautiful from the water taxis to the buildings.

florence: this was where my favorite gelato place was ! we stayed right new to the beautiful santa maria cathedral with the famous dome. everywhere we went, and especially here, the people were so welcoming and friendly. florence is known for being the birthplace of many famous renaissance era figure such as michelangelo, dante, leanardo de vinci, botticelli, brunelleschi, donatello, and the medici family.

rome: wow. rome was so so cool. i didn’t realize how huge of a city it was (2.6 million). we made it to vatican city multiple times, caught up with friends who live in the area, and learned all about the ancient romans.

pompeii and naples: i didn’t spend too much time at either but thought both were gorgeous and definitely want to come back.

for one of the first times ever, i packed perfectly for the excursions and weather. i usually wore my red converse, brown leather shoes, or my tennis shoes. i was able to bring minimal tops and bottoms and mix and match them. these items plus a rain coat and light (reversible!) winter coat were all i needed.

red converse here, leather shoes from madewell last season but similar ones here, and new balance here. rain coat here and reversible jacket (in a different color) here.

every time i travel i am always amazed with how much a i learn and pick up about history, culture, and even language. i love the idea of immersing yourself into a completely different world and learning that way. i have experienced this across the globe and even in a neighboring city. i am so grateful to be able to travel and am looking forward to future adventures. ciao !
