easy diy gift idea

christmas is just five days away and we are oh so excited. for anyone scrambling to finish up gifts, we have the perfect easy and cheap diy idea. quote canvases ! the total cost is under $10 and they can be designed and customized for any type of person on your list. here is how i, jane, made a few for my friends.

step one: buy canvases at the craft store: $8.99 for a two pack or some smaller and cheaper ones here. you will also need sharpie markers and paint (optional).

step two: choose the perfect quote and get drawing. pinterest was my go-to site for quote inspiration.

i choose four: “enjoy the little things” “no rain no flowers ” “better an oops than a what if” & “it is what it is…”

step three: paint any blank spaces that need a pop of color. i choose to paint the edges, as my canvases were about 1/2 inch thick.

step four: wrap and give them to the special people in your life.

super easy and cheap, yet considerate and personal. happy gifting and diy-ing !

we love the simplicity of artifact uprising (check out the app, too!). with the holidays coming around, consider giving a calendar or photo book as a thoughtful, personalized gift!

treat yoself !

…everyone deserves a little treat every once in a while so, spend some money on something to brighten you day!

here are our recommendations:

spotify premium- start with the free trial, you will never want to go back to the version with ads. spotify premium is great because you can download playlists offline and listen to them anywhere, without interruption.

madewell jewelry- we love madewell’s simple gold earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets.  they are so easy to pair with everyday outfits and will stay in great condition.

artifact uprising prints- print your photography through artifact uprising! they use thick, recycled paper that you can easily display. use their app that is directly linked to vsco for easy downloading!

the birchbox- the greatest gift we have ever received!! who doesn’t love monthly care packages of product samples? try it for a few months because happy mail is the best.

642 things to write about- fuel your creative side with this big book of writing prompts and ideas! if you enjoy writing and want some extra inspiration, we highly recommend this book.

sometimes it’s just the little things, ya know?

no one actually likes chocolates and roses

valentines day is just is just around corner and we want to help you spread the love differently than you have every other year.

date night:

vertical endeavors (or other indoor rock-climbing near you)

the ultimate test of trust and support or just for fun!

backwards dinner

start with dessert, then the main course, and work your way up to appetizers because sometimes the best isn’t always for last

bryant lake bowling

a laid back, uptown located, old fashioned bowling experience that won’t break the bank and will guarantee a good time

gift giver:

sweet tooth

oreo cake pops: put one package of oreos in a food processor and mix in a bowl with one 8oz. package of cream cheese; let sit and cover in preferred chocolate or candy melts

get creative

try the interactive fill in book, me, you, us. available at barnes and noble

for the friend

a birchbox subscription for the makeup artist, a fish eye iphone camera lens for the photographer, or instead of flowers try another decorative plant like this one that will last much longer than a dozen roses and is easy to keep alive

complete the look:

the dress

try this adorable pink dress or this hot red one both from nordstrom rack

nails

rock this essie nail polish because their’s no rule saying you have to wear pink or red

accessorize

with this delicate, pink necklace from baubblebar
