LA for a few days

hope everyone is having a good wednesday! i am in the final push until spring break, while jane is already on her way to tokyo (more on that soon)!

i visited my sister in LA last weekend and ran into some cool stuff:

a sprinkles cupcake atm right on usc’s campus!
we ran into a cool art exhibit in the arts district

enjoyed some smaller designer sales in beautiful art district buildings! check out that ceiling in the reflection of the mirror.
some happy balloons over a farmers market
i fell in love with poketo!
i mean seriously, this is too cool

gotta love this funky place

shirt is an old urban crop top and forever 21 jean skirt (here is it in the lighter wash)
can’t beat that brick

thank you, bella for having us and abby for being my travel buddy!

style feature: mckenna

Mckenna. Age 17.

What is you go-to outfit?

Black jeans and a t-shirt. Or anything with stars because I’m really into them right now.

How does your style reflect who you are?

I just wear what makes me happy. For example, this pin [Scotland flag pin on jean jacket] is from Scotland and it reminds me of my trip there and that makes me happy.

What is one article of clothing you couldn’t live without?

What is your favorite piece of clothing that you own?

My yellow baseball hat.

thank you, mckenna.

although it was freezing up there, nothing beats an up close and personal view of downtown mpls! here’s some photos taken from the foshay tower observatory.vsco_123016-1

artifact uprising

these days it seems that everyone has every picture on their phones.  artifact uprising‘s motto is “inspired by the disappearing beauty of the tangible” and we totally agree with the beauty of the tangible. their super easy to use app and website connect right to your saved pictures, vsco, and instagram making uploading and printing your favorite pictures so simple.  since they partnered with vsco, we have enjoyed printing our favorite pictures out to hang them around our house or give to friends.

today, we are sharing our latest prints.

my winter break started with some last minute christmas shopping and visits to the mall.
Screen Shot 2016-01-02 at 2.39.07 PM.png
i discovered my new favorite coffee shop (urban bean in uptown  mpls) and have managed to get a mint tea many times in just two weeks.

Screen Shot 2016-01-02 at 2.40.01 PM.png
i set aside a day to visit the walker art museum in mpls to see their new exhibit “hippie modernism: the struggle for utopia.”
Screen Shot 2016-01-02 at 2.40.18 PM.png
while there, i also found two other exhibits that i really enjoyed. one was the andrea büttner gallery pictured in both of the above photos.

artifact uprising

a few weeks ago vsco (our favorite editing app) had a deal with artifact uprising to receive 25 free prints.  we have mentioned artifact uprising once or twice before but today we want to show you what we’ve done with our prints!

i actually got two orders of them because my first one had some issues

we love the simplicity of artifact uprising (check out the app, too!). with the holidays coming around, consider giving a calendar or photo book as a thoughtful, personalized gift!

clean the camera roll (four)

again! but this time all the pictures are jane’s and can be found on her vsco.

on my last day of working as a nanny this summer, i planned an adventure to the sculpture garden and the walker art center.  the plan was to just walk through quickly…. until we discovered eight floors of fascinating, capturing art.
Screen Shot 2015-08-31 at 7.53.26 PM
so, two hours later, we finally headed home with nice memories and some really cool pictures.
Screen Shot 2015-08-31 at 7.52.58 PM
another outing that found it’s way into my end-of-summer agenda was a trip to the minnesota zoo. it exceeded my expectations and was great for the many different aged kids and adults that joined me.
Screen Shot 2015-08-31 at 7.54.45 PM
the minnesota state fair! for all our non locals, the minnesota state fair is known for it’s unique, delicious, deep fried food, usually found on a stick, (with an exception to this delicious corn) and it happens to be the largest state fair by daily attendance. yum!
Screen Shot 2015-08-31 at 7.52.24 PM
this was my favorite picture of the whole summer. ( i mean just look at the colors!) recently, i got to spend the day with my little brother and sister, and, of course, i embraced my inner nine year old by enjoying all the rides at como zoo (i guess i like zoos ha), like this one: the frog hopper.
Screen Shot 2015-08-31 at 7.55.01 PM
and another fair/ride picture!

with school starting and fall just around the corner, girls tennis season is in full swing! my days are booked with sunny matches and i could  not be happier.
Screen Shot 2015-08-31 at 7.52.44 PM
melting snow cones under a hot sun, flip flops, and sun bleached hair… if that’s not summer, i don’t know what is.
Screen Shot 2015-08-31 at 7.54.14 PM
as i looked through my chipotle cultivate festival album again, i found this awesome shot that i somehow missed before! I think this really captures the day: fun friends (hey greta!) and big smiles.

thanks for being a special part of our summer and following along. we love capturing memories both in the moment and through the camera lens because we believe pictures can speak a thousand words. so, here’s to endless fun times, pictures, and memories.

happy september.

(ahhhh! what!)

we are back in california again! this time, jane spent a weekend in san francisco and absolutely loved it. she enjoyed biking along the beach, picture ops at the golden gate bridge, the gorgeous houses, the one and only lombard street, and even made a day trip to sausalito. here are some of her many photos from the weekend.
