tokyo fashion

i, jane, just got back from tokyo, japan a few days ago! (more to come on my itinerary soon) when i went to tokyo, i had a single vision of what kind of fashion i would see. i imagined the eccentric, colorful “baby doll” style outfits that people tend to stereotype tokyo for having. however, i was instead exposed to wide spectrum of styles. something very prevalent was a french influence. french boutiques and french inspired fashion was everywhere. to further investigate, i spent a day in the western area of tokyo near the ebisu subway station to shop the french boutique filled neighborhoods.  here are a few pictures and pieces i brought home !

this yellow shirt was my favorite purchase of the trip.

was also in love with this fun collar, but sadly it didn’t fit right. (and the whole store was one size fits all… which isn’t too uncommon for tokyo!)

and speaking of fashion, here’s what i wore for my week in asia.

IMG_7885.JPG

pink sweatshirt: h&m

black jeans: madewell

green shoes: karhu (and also the absolute best shoes for traveling. super comfortable and easy to match and work with a variety of outfits and colors)

IMG_7887.JPG

shirt: [laura’s] madewell top from last year

scarf: f21

IMG_7879.JPG

this backpack was a game changer. cute, comfy, affordable, fun, and can fit a lot of stuff… it’s got it all.

IMG_7876.JPG

another travel tip: reversible, packable down coat ! mine was from amazon (laundry brand). here it is in purple and a very similar one here.

IMG_7875.JPG

sweater: jcrew last season

scarf: above

maroon pants: paige brand here. (all their pants are super comfortable and don’t get worn or torn)

shoes: above

stay tuned !

an afternoon in philly

i (jane) am in philadelphia ! i got here in the afternoon and was able to spend a few hours downtown touring around. we made the most of our only evening here and ended up walking 8.3 miles but enjoyed every step.

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.33.42 PM.png

we started at independence park and the liberty bell. obviously a must for first timers to philly. it was a sunny, beautiful day and the history and significance behind the buildings was very interesting and meaningful.

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.32.55 PM.png

we drove by the rocky steps ! (it would’ve been fun to run down them if we weren’t on a crunch for time.)

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.34.07 PM.png

next was the spruce street harbor. amazing. colorful, comfortable hammocks hung between all the trees for anyone’s use + a gorgeous view of the delaware river + gourmet food trucks (with delicious water ice!), outdoor games, and more = the highlight of my day.

Screen Shot 2016-07-12 at 10.34.39 PM.png

then we walked down south street and eventually to macy’s center for some shopping. we ended the day with dinner at the oldest italian restaurant in america (100 years old) – ralph’s italian restaurant.

thank you philly for a great few hours; i’ll be back someday.
