i, jane, just got back from tokyo, japan a few days ago! (more to come on my itinerary soon) when i went to tokyo, i had a single vision of what kind of fashion i would see. i imagined the eccentric, colorful “baby doll” style outfits that people tend to stereotype tokyo for having. however, i was instead exposed to wide spectrum of styles. something very prevalent was a french influence. french boutiques and french inspired fashion was everywhere. to further investigate, i spent a day in the western area of tokyo near the ebisu subway station to shop the french boutique filled neighborhoods. here are a few pictures and pieces i brought home !
and speaking of fashion, here’s what i wore for my week in asia.
…. and 11 days later, we are finally writing about the new year.
the start of 2017 came with so many emotions. 2016 was one of the worst for us personally and universally, but it also provided many opportunities for growth. it completely exemplified the quote by joseph kennedy, “when the going gets tough, the tough get going.” 2016’s rough patches brought out some great people, leaders, and friends in each of us and around the world.
we are looking forward the fresh start 2017 will provide us with and have so many things we hope to accomplish in these next 365 days (minus 11). as for blog, we want to continue to use our space as a platform to share our love for photography and style, as well as more of our creative writings. i (jane) recently gathered my thoughts on a new year resolution via the odyssey online here. laura plans on being productive and staying inspired in 2017. personally, we will both graduate from high school this year and make some big life decisions regarding college, etc. it is going to be great! our vscos are also a great way to stay current on day to day little moments. if you do not already follow us, here’s laura’s profile and jane’s. lastly, we loved what brit + co put together for the new year here.
let’s make 2017 a good one, friends! thank you for following along.
on monday afternoon, i, jane, realized that (one) i had nothing to do in the evening and (two) that some of my favorite arstists were playing at kdwb’s jingle ball later that night. i bought two tickets an hour before the show and called up a good friend to join me.
we went in with zero expectations but finished the night pleasantly surprised with the performances we heard. some stand outs were alessia cara’s song scars to your beautiful about loving your self for who you are, g-eazy’s classic crowd pleasers, and, my personal favorite, the backstreet boys !
today, our very own jane finished her first ever marathon!!! running 26.2 miles is something that takes both an incredible amount of dedication and strength (not that i, laura, would know hahah). i am so very proud of jane for having goals and not letting the busyness of life and sports, and a foot injury, get in the way. i felt truly inspired seeing her smiling at mile 8! i feel so blessed to know this awesome, creative, strong girl and to share a corner of the internet together.
i, laura, have been so stressed lately. everything from papers, college essays, long term projects, to politics and the civil unrest is stressing me out big time. i wish i had more hours in the day to sleep and beat this stupid cold that is bugging me and also to get my to do list done. ah! enough about that.
i have recently just decided to go for it with a few things that have been hanging out in my shopping bag for a while.
here’s what i got:
yes i realize that i may be going a tad overboard on shopping right now but hey, it’s making me feel better and i am so excited to have a good mail day!
